Fake bank notices, gambling/betting ads, \"you have won\" traps and fake links using courier or fine excuses reach millions of phones every day.\n\nThose hurt most are the two groups who find these traps hardest to spot: children and the elderly. SMS Veto was written exactly to protect them. It classifies every incoming message automatically, MARKS what is dangerous and HIGHLIGHTS what the user needs to see. What does SMS Veto do? Classifies every incoming SMS automatically %1$d categories: gambling, scam, spam, bank, official institution, verification code and normal. Warns about suspicious links before you tap them Link shorteners, IP-address domains, cheap/risky extensions and imitation (punycode) addresses are detected. Protects verification codes A warning appears when you try to share an OTP message; the most common fraud method is asking victims for their own code. Protects against accidental deletion Deleted messages wait in the Trash for 30 days and can be restored. Your messages stay on your phone Messages are stored only in the app\'s own protected folder; other apps cannot read them. Your phone\'s own encryption keeps all data encrypted while the phone is locked. There is no extra encryption layer inside the app. Locks private conversations Locked conversations can only be opened with your device\'s own screen lock (PIN/pattern/fingerprint). You build your own blocklist Add unwanted sender names or words; those messages count as spam automatically. Remembers your decision If you correct a sender\'s category, NEW messages from that sender go to that category too. Sends bulk messages Sends holiday/greeting messages one by one, in a controlled way, to contacts you choose. What does SMS Veto NOT do? Your messages are NOT sent to any server. Your contacts are NOT uploaded anywhere. Your phone number is NOT shared anywhere. NO ads are shown and NO advertising ID is collected. NO usage statistics/analytics are collected. Requested permissions and why Read and receive SMS To classify incoming messages. Messages are processed only on your device. Send SMS So you can send messages from chats and the bulk message screen. Write SMS As the default SMS app, to save received messages to the phone\'s shared SMS storage. This keeps your messages if you switch to another SMS app later. Read contacts To show contact names instead of numbers and to let you pick contacts for bulk messages. Contact data NEVER leaves the device. Show notifications To let you know when a new message arrives. Microphone ONLY when you tap the microphone button in a chat, for a voice MMS. The recording goes only to the person you choose, as MMS; permission is asked on first use. To be honest: the limits of this version No software is perfect. Known gaps in this version: Classification is currently rule-based (keywords + sender verification). No AI model is used yet. So messages may occasionally be misclassified; you can correct the category by hand and the app learns your decision. Mobile data must be on to send and receive picture messages (MMS); Wi-Fi is not enough. Link checks use heuristic rules and a list of known malicious addresses. A link not marked suspicious may still be dangerous; always be careful. Message classification (gambling, scam, bank...) is built for Turkish messages and senders in Turkey; it is less accurate for messages in other languages. Our security principles Data stays on the device Everything we can do is done on the phone. Data that is never sent to a server cannot be leaked. Where Is Your Data Stored? SMS Veto stores ALL your messages, blocklist and settings ONLY on your device (in a local database). No message content, phone number or personal data is EVER sent to any server. This database stays only in the app\'s protected folder (other apps cannot read it) and is protected by your phone\'s own encryption; there is no extra encryption layer inside the app. It is not included in automatic transfer when you change devices. Internet Connection SMS Veto NEVER connects to the internet and does not ask for internet permission. The list of known banks/hospitals/operators/government institutions comes with the app and is renewed when the app is updated. If you wish, you can load a list file of your choice in Settings > Sender List; that file is also stored only on your phone. Links are checked against known malicious addresses on the phone too: the malicious link list comes with the app or is a Dataturk-signed file you download and load yourself. The links in your messages are never looked up anywhere. Microphone The microphone is used ONLY when you tap the microphone button in a chat, to send a voice MMS; permission is asked on first use. The recording stays temporarily on your phone and goes only to the person you choose, as MMS (through your operator). Nothing is ever recorded in the background. Contacts Access Contacts permission is requested to match numbers in incoming SMS with names in your contacts. This information NEVER LEAVES YOUR DEVICE; it is used only to show names on screen. Notifications Incoming SMS notifications and sounds are processed entirely on your device. Your notification sound choice is also stored only on your device. Backup When you use the backup feature, the file is saved to the location YOU choose (Google Drive, device storage, etc.). If you turn on the weekly automatic backup, backups go to the same folder (the last 4 are kept); this feature is OFF by default. SMS Veto NEVER sends backup files anywhere else. Error Reports If the app closes unexpectedly, an error log (error type and code lines; NO message content) is stored only on your phone.
